Director of Development, Boston University School of Theology
Ray Joyce has nearly 30 years of nonprofit management and fundraising not including a marketing and sales background in the private sector. For the past 3 ½ years he has been leading a $25M fundraising effort at Boston University’s School of Theology, the founding school at BU. Prior to that he spent 5 years at Lazarus House Ministries surpassing their first-ever capital campaign’s $5M goal.
Ray also spent 15 years in public television. At WGBH he helped develop and manage a service for visually impaired audiences and then ran day to day operations for the station’s new media department. He was later responsible for marketing, development and educational services at WGBH’s sister station WGBY. Ray also served as Executive Director for the grass roots church reform organization Voice of the Faithful.
Earlier in his career he worked in marketing and sales at Wang Laboratories. Ray served as a Peace Corps volunteer and has also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in the U.S. and abroad. He earned a BA at Merrimack College and an MBA in nonprofit management at Boston University during which time he was also the first Director of Development at the College of Engineering. To date Ray has raised more than $74M for 5 nonprofits.
