Valerie L. Oswald
Director of Engagement and Annual Giving, University of Virginia College Foundation
Valerie Oswald is the Director of Engagement and Annual Giving at the University of Virginia College Foundation. In her role, she drives the strategy for the Foundation’s annual giving efforts, directs all mass communication and engagement, and oversees their alumni and friend’s website and social media efforts for more than 120,000 alumni.
Prior to joining UVA in 2014, Valerie was part of the team at the USA Swimming Foundation. She led their annual fund efforts and managed the marketing and social media initiatives for one of the USOC’s largest sport national governing body foundations. Valerie first became involved with non-profit fundraising as the Director of Marketing and Specials Events for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia where she combined her years of previous marketing and communication experience and work securing and maintaining corporate sponsorships to grow the role. Valerie began her career in higher education at the University of Texas at Austin in a dual role with the Department of Athletics and Undergraduate Admissions.
Valerie is a 2002 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in History and Sociology and is a current member of their prestigious T-Association. She received her M.S. in Kinesiology/Sport Management from Indiana University in 2005.
